Hubby and I LOVE Indian food and we have a place the beach that we love to eat from but it is SO price which led me to Apna. I was scrolling Uber Eats for alternative options and the menu had our favorites so we decided to give it a try. Overall we were pretty pleased with it and this will be an option we use but it won't be our primary for a couple reasons. The good: we moved the samosas! We had the photos to and veg which was lovely. The sauce that was included was good but I prefer a mint sauce. W eloped the tikka masala with chicken. The chicken was among the most tender I've ever had. It was extremely well prepared. The soso: We usually love a palak paneer. My husband didn't love the preparation of theirs. I was fine with it and thought the paneer was very good! The naan: we tried the regular, garlic, and potato stuffed. The potato stuffed was over the top with spices but overall fine. The bad: we had a lamb vindaloo- we love vindaloo but personally did not love the lamb. The lamb used was delicious but it's my personal preference that get eat meat without the bones included. We'd opt for chicken instead next time. There's no rice included with the entrees- it's a separate add on which is fine but something to note.

We tried something new tonight and really enjoyed our meal. We started out with Chicken 65 as an appetizer. It was served with buttered naan bread. For my main dish I ordered Chicken Tika Marsala regular spice with rice. It was delicious. I'm not sure what the spices were but I enjoyed every bite! My husband ordered chicken Do Piyaze. The meat was fall off the bone tender. Our servers were very polite and helpful, as we had no idea what to order. There was only one other table occupied in the restaurant but they got very busy around 7pm with to go orders.

Mmmmmm love me some Indian food I pass this everyday on my drive to work. It's a tiny grocery/restaurant tucked away in a strip mall on Beach Blvd. I can't believe it's taken me this long to pull in and give it a try. The door on the left of the entrance takes you to the bazaar (grocery market). I wandered through the aisles wanting to buy everything before realizing that I need to get myself to the restaurant pronto. The produce section was very impressive. The restaurant portion of the store (use the entrance on the right if you want to skip the market and walk straight into the restaurant) is small... maybe about 4 tables. Sit wherever you like and get excited. We started with an order of veg samosas. They were good, standard samosas served with chutney. The stars of the meal were the goat Korma (so tender), daal (basically the most delicious lentils you'll ever have), and the chicken tikka masala. Flavors were all incredible and robust. All 3 of the main dishes came with a choice of rice or naan. Plenty of food with a good amount leftover to take home, for just under $35. Can't wait to go back!

Apna Restaurant is a GroceryRant shared place, where 70% of the building is a grocery area and 30% being the restaurant. There are plenty of tables and chairs to go around. You can practically see the kitchen from the order counter. Great way to shop for groceries while you wait for your food. The aroma is something else. I dropped in here before work and ordered some food to go. The Good: Chicken Tikka Masala (5/5): One of the best I have had; nicely spiced. I would most likely come back for this again. The Bad: Garlic Naan (2/5): It was just meh. It lacked flavor compared to what most garlic naans I have had.....BUT BUT BUT....if you dip that garlic naan into the Masala sauce, then you would get a Whut Da Fawk, Eureka moment. The Naan and the Masala goes hand in hand folks, like Sonny and Cher. The taste of the combined togetherness sings to your taste buds saying "I got you Babe". They should create this Naan and Masala combo and call it the Sonny and Cher Special. #IJS My only caveat; expect a long wait for your food, it is made fresh, especially the Naans. But the wait is so worth it.

Apna was a welcome surprise! I love Indian food but had not tried any restaurants in Jacksonville since moving here in 2014. I was on the way to the gun range with my boyfriend and he spotted this restaurant in a strip mall. I told him I would check Yelp when we were ready to eat but he suggested we not read the reviews and try them out. So against my better judgement I listened to him. Although I did peak and see that this spot only had 3.5 stars. There was an entrance to the grocery store and an entrance to the restaurant. We went in through the restaurant door. There were roughly ten tables. As soon as we walked in the smell of wonderful food overcame us. Plus we were really hungry! I ordered the korma and my boyfriend ordered the tandoori mixed grilled platter. We shared our food which was great! The korma reminded me of tikka masala which I love. The sauce was similar but a little creamier. The sauce was perfect for naan dipping! I ordered more sauce to bring home at a small fee of $2.99. Worth it! Now let's discuss the tandoori mixed grilled platter. WOW! The presentation was amazing as it was served steaming hot and sizzling. Check out the video I posted and you will see;) The dish included beef and chicken kabobs, chicken tikka and leg of a tandoori chicken. I loved everything about this dish! All of the meats were cooked to perfection with a gracious amount of seasoning. The flavors were exploding in my mouth like the 4th of July! The tandoori chicken was my favorite. But to be clear there was nothing about this dish that I did not like LOL! Our server was friendly and helped us make our selections. As I mentioned, there was a small area for sit down dining so in the future I will probably call in an order and pick it up. And yes, I will absolutely be eating here again! Very authentic cuisine;)))
